New features, improvements and fixes in each release of Sentinel for Mac and Linux. Both apps check for updates daily and tell you when a new version is out.
Sentinel is now a platform: one server program that runs as a Management role, a Recording role, or both, with new ways to watch and manage it. The Mac app is now the Operator client, and the old built-in server is now the bundled server service that the app can run on your Mac.
NewOne server program with Management and Recording roles. Small sites run both on one machine; bigger ones add Recording Servers as they grow.
NewEnroll a second machine with a one-time token: paste one command on the new machine and it joins your site.
NewFootage follows camera moves. When you move a camera to another Recording Server, its recordings stay reachable.
NewSentinel Admin in your browser: servers, cameras, users, alarms and audit in one place.
NewSentinel Operator workspace: a sidebar of views and cameras grouped by server, Live and Playback workspaces, a timeline bar, synchronized multi-camera playback and clip export. Mac
NewDirectory sign-in with LDAP / Active Directory and single sign-on (SSO).
NewCamera groups and scoped users, so people see only the cameras they should.
NewCentral audit across the site, with a tamper-evident hash chain kept per server.
NewImporter that brings your existing cameras and settings from the previous Mac app into the new setup. Mac
ImprovedSentinel Mobile now uses the new site API, including single sign-on and per-alarm instructions. The iPhone app update ships separately through App Store review.
ImprovedThe Mac download is now Sentinel Operator. It includes the server (“run a server on this Mac”) and can also connect to any other Sentinel site. Mac
ImprovedLinux 2.0.0 is the server tarball for the new platform, installed with the same sudo ./install.sh. Still in beta. Linux
NewUses your cameras' own analytics (ONVIF Profile M): person, vehicle, face, license plate, line crossing, intrusion, loitering, tamper and motion events show up in Sentinel and can raise alarms.
NewLine crossing, intrusion and tamper alarm types. These always raise an alarm; person and vehicle events follow your alert settings.
NewUpdate notifications. Sentinel checks once a day and tells you when a new version is out. On Mac, use Check for Updates… in the app menu; on Linux, see System → Updates. You can turn the check off.
ImprovedCamera events now count as activity for motion-mode recording, so clips are kept around them.
FixedCamera event subscriptions no longer pile up on the camera over time. Mac
NewSend Feedback for bugs, ideas and questions. On Mac it's in the Help menu; on Linux it's in the dashboard sidebar. Bug reports can include recent activity with passwords and keys removed.
NewHelp menu with links to setup guides and the privacy policy. Mac
